Yesterday the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko enacted two laws aimed at improving the social protection of military servicemen and war veterans. This refers to the Law “On amendments to some laws of Ukraine improving social protection of servicemen and their families” and the Law “On Amendments to Article 15 of the Law of Ukraine” On the status of war veterans, guarantees of their social protection ” to provide the bereaved families benefits excluding the average total family income”. These documents are the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Defense, the General Staff, volunteers and deputies.
The Head of the State instructed to raise afterpayment for the servicemen being on the first line in the ATO area. “Today for the first line of defence the level of afterpayment should be 7.5 thousand UAH to the funding ratio. And the general cash security should already be at least 15 thousand UAH”, – stated the President.
It was also decided to increase financial compensation to families of soldiers killed on the front line – up to 50%, and in case of death in a battle – the family will receive from the state more than 1.2 million UAH. In the case of I disability category the state’s aid also increased up to 50%, from 400 thousand to about 640 thousand UAH.
Meanwhile, service families can expect additional benefits: free medicine, medical services, 50% discount on housing and utility services payment, etc.
