On Mar. 16, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Law “On the Single State Register of Persons Liable for Military Service” by 236 deputies. According to the document, all personal and official data of the military-aged citizens of Ukraine will be enrolled into a single electronic system. And there will be no need to obtain the consent to the processing of these data.
To create the Register, the Central Election Commission of Ukraine will provide the Ministry of Defense with the information on all Ukrainians aged from 18 to 60 years.
According to the Law, the electronic system will be used for:
– Military registration of recruits;
– Planning and implementation of mobilization;
– Conscription for military service and contract service;
– Providing persons who are dismissed from the military service and eligible for retirement, survivors with the information on military records.
Regional (city) military commissariats will be responsible for keeping the Register at the local level. They will enter and edit the database information and monitor the data reliability. At the same time, protection of the information contained in the Register from unauthorized access and illegal use will be guaranteed by the state.
