Ukrainian schools are expected to reveal the information about their expenses. This measure will help to prevent inappropriate use of funds allocated to educational institutions and misuse of parental contributions, Minister of Education and Science Liliya Grynevych has said.
This provision is included in the Draft Law “On Education”, which was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada in the first reading. According to the Minister, all schools will have to publish accurate reports on incomes (from the state and local budgets, from parental contributions) and expenses on their official web pages. This step should help to ensure transparency and public control over the process of schools funding.
Also, the Ministry of Education and Science will try to liquidate such phenomenon as tutoring when teachers deliberately do not give all necessary material during lessons, thus forcing students to take additional classes. To detect these cases the Ministry of Education and Science will work with parental organizations, Liliya Grynevych said.
