On Feb. 16, representatives of the Association of amalgamated territorial communities (ATCs) held their first general meeting in Kyiv. During the event, they discussed the objectives and main tasks of the Association, signed a memorandum of cooperation with regional associations of ATCs and partner organizations.
Mainly, the activity of the Association is aimed at defending and promoting the interests of its members at regional and local levels throughout Ukraine, as well as representing the consensus of ATCs of all regions at the national level, Chairman of the Association of ATCs, Chairman of Novoukrainka city ATC Oleksandr Korinnyi has reported during a conference in UNIAN.
The Association of ATCs was formed by a founding assembly on Nov. 25, 2016. As of today, the organization includes 37 ATCs of 17 regions, about 20 ATCs are going to join the Association.
Member of the Board, Development Director of the Association of ATCs Ihor Abramiuk said that some resolutions on the statutory rules of the Association were accepted during the meeting. Namely, only a local self-government body of an ATC, which was created in accordance with the law “On Voluntary Association of Territorial Communities”, held elections and formed an ATC board can become a member of the Association.
The requirements for leaders of the Association – chairman and his/her deputies were also determined. A candidate should be a leader of an ATC, serving as a head of a local self-government body for the second term. It means that he/she should be elected to the position of a village, town or city head for the second term.
It should be noted that the Statute of the Association prohibits its members from grouping and fractionating due to political reasons in order to avoid political bias and dependence on political forces.
