On April, 6 the Business Ombudsman Council published a report on work results of 2016. According to appeals, most entrepreneurs complained the actions of the State Tax Service (55% of complaints) and local government (10% of complaints). Last year total number of received complaints was 868.
In particular, the most problem area for business is tax audits – 84 complaints, VAT refunds delay (75 complaints), and criminal proceedings against the business by the SFS (62 complaints). A total number of tax issues requests during 2016 increased and reached 49%. In 2015, it was 36%.
At the same time, the number of complaints of the Prosecutor’s Office and Ministry of Justice declined.
It should be stated, the Business Ombudsman Council is an independent advisory body under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which was established in December 2014. Officially, the work started on 20 May 2015. This body should help to create a transparent business environment and prevent the corruption in the government and local authorities.
