The Ministry of Health has started preparations for the introduction of the Electronic Integrated Disease Surveillance System (EIDSS). The system will monitor disease cases among humans and animals and optimize decision making for their treatment and prevention.
The project is implemented by the Ministry of Health in cooperation with the Defense Threat Reduction Agency of the U.S. Department of Defense. Black & Veatch Special Projects Corporation is responsible for putting the system into operation.
According to Head of the Public Health Sector of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine Natalia Piven, the list of infectious diseases covered by the network system has already been formed. Also, the list of reporting forms collected by the system is being created. In the future it will help to avoid a large number of paper reports.
It is planned to introduce the system throughout Ukraine after its improving and the development of an information security system. Afterwards, EIDSS will be fully integrated into the overall e-health system.
