Ukraine and Finland signed a Memorandum on Understanding in fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy and alternative fuels.
Due to the signing of the Memorandum, Ukraine will be able to enhance information exchange with Finland on the best practices of electricity production using renewable energy sources and alternative fuels and share experience in working with electricity produced from renewable sources. Moreover, the Ministry of Regional Development of Ukraine agreed with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland to work out common projects, courses and seminars on energy efficiency.
According to the Memorandum text, Ukrainian legislation on energy efficiency and alternative energy sources should be also improvemed. Energy Efficiency Fund, which will support energy efficiency programs, is going to be created in 2017. A corresponding draft law has been already registered in the Verkhovna Rada. The Fund budget will be formed from finances received from the state budget of Ukraine and international financial organizations.
