Regions, which are the first to set up health care reform, will receive technical and organizational assistance within the framework of the project “Support of reforms and efficient management in health care sector in Ukraine.” The initiative was launched by the World Bank in Ukraine and the Ministry of Health. Funding will be provided by Swiss Cooperation Office.
The main objective of the project is to support health care reform at the regional level, improvement of public procurement system and monitoring of its functioning. Financing amount at the rate of 2 million 600 thousand Swiss francs will be provided within three years. The project will be held in Lviv and Poltava regions. Other regions are also expected to join this initiative.
The project consists of two components: technical assistance and corruption resistance. The first involves reconstruction of health care financing mechanisms and improvement of health care services, development of an e-health regional strategy. The second component has to promote prevention of corruption, particularly during procurements of drugs and medical devices.
