The investor who was the first to finance thermal upgrading of a budget object in Ukraine within the cooperation with energy service companies (ESCO) began to receive the state compensation. The investor company “Interenergo Service,” which signed a contract for insulation of a secondary school in Savranskyi district of Odessa region, has already performed a series of energy efficiency measures in the school, namely – cleaning, repairing and upgrading the heating system, setting up the ventilation system, introduction of a system of energy consumption control. The next step is the loft insulation.
Comprehensive energy audit in spring 2016, helped to attract private investment in thermal upgrading of public sector objects in this district. As a result of the audit, investors assessed the economic feasibility of investing their funds in projects to be implemented by the mechanism of ESCO.
Chairman of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving Sergiy Savchuk believes that the example of “Interenergo Service” will push other investors to cooperate with local authorities to improve the level of energy efficiency in schools, kindergartens, hospitals and other budgetary institutions.
ESCO is a mechanism to attract investment in thermal upgrading of social infrastructure objects.
