As a result of decentralization, the total amount of local budgets will increase 2.5 times and will amount to about UAH 170 billion this year. Over the past two years, this figure increased from UAH 69 billion in 2014 to UAH 147 billion last year, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has reported at the opening of the fifth session of the Regional Development Council in Kiev.

Also, according to the President, the share of local budgets in the consolidated budget of the country also increased and almost approached 50% for the first time in the history of Ukraine.

Poroshenko appealed the local authorities to use the funds effectively for the benefit of communities. The central government will not control over the use of funds and interfere with the process of budget allocation depending on the needs of communities.
