There continues the collaborative work of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and people’s deputies on the formulation of the new requirements to medical infrastructure and improvement of state construction standards in this area. This was told by the Deputy Minister of Health Pavlo Kovtonyuk. In the first place, the changes will affect primary medical care in rural areas, he noted.
The deputy minister stated that currently in the direction of improving healthcare infrastructure there continues the consideration of models of ambulant clinics, health centers planned to be built on the basis of former polyclinics; and revision of requirements for hospital premises.
As for primary care, there is a possibility to establish two forms of medical institutions:
• mono practice – the practice building where there is also a doctor’s apartment who will work in remote villages;
• medical team sites for 3-5 doctors, serving 7-10 thousand people.
According to the Ministry of Health, the team sites are the most effective from a medical point of view. This format allows doctors to work the clock around in standby status, replace each other and take advises in cases of complex diseases.
Also, the Ministry of Health supports the proposal of the Association of Cities of Ukraine regarding the use of hospital premises in small towns to provide other non-medical services related to health – rehabilitation, massage and therapeutic exercises, etc.
