From June 1, the Ministry of Health will implement mandatory monitoring of the specialized institutions of blood transfusion. This step should contribute to better management of blood service at the regional level, planning of donor blood procurement and its components, improving management of available reserves and solving existing problems.
According to the Deputy Health Minister for European Integration Sivak Oksana, the monitoring will not only help to quickly collect accurate information from all regions but also make it available to everyone.
In particular, it is possible to get information about the volume of donor blood remains by using the online service: http://bloodservice.org.ua/monitoring-sku.
The summary from each region will be supplied in electronic format to the web-page of the Ministry of Health by the 10th of each month.
It should be noted that the establishment of a national blood system (National Blood Service and specialized controlling body) is provided within the framework of the European Union Directives on blood safety.
It is expected that on the regional level the centralized procurement, processing, testing, storage and distribution of donor blood and its components will be performed by the specialized regional institutions of blood transfusion – blood centers, blood transfusion station.
