Employees of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) should have full access to electronic declarations of officials soon. The NABU Director Artem Sytnyk and the head of the National Agency for corruption prevention (NACP) Natalia Korchak agreed to create a working group to resolve the issue “as soon as possible.”
In Dec. Sytnyk said that NABU hadn’t got full access to the Unified State Register of declarations of officials. NACP, which is responsible for e-declarations site, was against full access to the database and insisted on providing information only to NABU requests on certain criminal proceedings in compliance with investigator or court order.
In summer 2016 NABU started checking declarations of officials, in Nov. it registered the first criminal proceedings on the fact of illegal enrichment based on analysis of electronic declarations.
