The deputies have only one month to adopt laws on the creation of Energy Efficiency Fund. Further delay could lead Ukraine to the loss of international financial support. The fact is that the decision on the budgets of international partners to help Ukraine will be taken by the European Commission in June this year. This was frankly told by the Vice- Prime Minister – the Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine Gennadiy Zubko; commenting on the recommendations of the parliamentary committee on fuel and energy sector to adopt in the second reading the draft law “On Energy Efficiency Fund.” Once again it can be seen that the activation of the reforms process in Ukraine, including legislative activity, largely depends on the financial expectations for international partners’ assistance.
Earlier, the Vice-President of the European Commission Maroš Šefčovič has expressed hope that the Verkhovna Rada will have no delays as for the adoption of significant “energy efficient” draft laws, including the bills “On the energy efficiency of buildings” and “On the commercial accounting.” He stressed that these documents are necessary to the European Union could provide support for the future Energy Efficiency Fund.
It should be reminded that earlier, Gennady Zubko had promised the Energy Efficiency Fund will be established in April this year. More: Energy Efficiency Fund will be created in Ukraine
