The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted the Amendments to the Law “On Heat Supply” to stimulate the production of heat energy from the alternative sources. The Draft Law should encourage the investors to support the non-gas heat generation. The document was developed in cooperation with the State Agency for Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE).
According to the SAEE head Sergiy Savchuk, the law will help to substitute more than 3 billion cubic meters of gas per year and to save no less than USD 600 million in the state budget, increase the volume of heat production from the renewable sources in district heat supply and reduce the heat tariff for consumers by 10%.
Moreover, the investors implementing the projects on the substitution of gas will get special tariffs for heat from the alternative sources, which will be fixed at 90% of the current tariff for gas heat for budgetary institutions and population.
Thus, the law will guarantee the investors the repayment of invested funds and will help to reduce the cost of heat energy generation and heat tariff for end consumers.
