The new public building standards will help to reduce energy consumption and bring Ukraine closer to the European standards of energy efficiency, reported a Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Regional Development, Construction and Housing of Ukraine, Gennady Zubko during the presentation of the “Thermal insulation of buildings” project and the appropriate software.
Building standards will establish minimum requirements for energy efficiency during the design and construction of new buildings, reconstruction, modernization and major repairs of the already built ones.
These standards will implement the Directive of the European Parliament and the EU Council “On energy efficiency of buildings.” As a result, Ukraine will start using the EU standards and software to determine the energy efficiency during the construction.
However, for the entire system to run, the government has to pass an energy efficiency legislative package, that consists of “On housing services”, “On energy efficiency of buildings”, “On the commercial accounting” and “On Energy Efficiency Fund.”
