On May, 2 the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko signed the law “On amendments to some legal acts of Ukraine concerning the legislation improvement on healthcare institutions activity”. The document envisages the creation of state and municipal medical institutions network, providing timely and effective health services. The Parliament passed the law on April, 6 this year.
According to the text of the law, hospitals receive financial and administrative autonomy. However, existing network of state and municipal medical institutions will not be reduced and are not the subject to privatization.
The document establishes a simplified procedure for transformation of state and municipal health care facilities into the state-owned and public non-profit enterprises. It also regulates some issues related to the public health service agreements.
This law enters into force within six months from the effective date.
