On Mar. 8, Petro Poroshenko has approved ratification of the Agreement on cooperation between Ukraine and the European Organization for Justice Issues (Eurojust). The Agreement aims to increase the effectiveness of combating organized crime, terrorism and simplify the process of prosecution of perpetrators of serious crimes of transnational character.
Specially appointed officials of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine are responsible to contact the European side.
According to the Agreement, the parties will exchange the information on serious crimes that occurred in Ukraine and the EU, representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine will participate in operational and strategic meetings of the organization.
The Agreement on cooperation between Ukraine and the European Organisation of Justice Issues was signed on June 27, 2016 in Brussels and adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on Feb. 8, 2017.
The European Organization for Justice Issues was formed in 2002 to improve the quality of investigations of particularly dangerous international crimes by the EU law enforcement bodies.
