In 2017, UAH about 9 billion will be allocated for the development and acquisition of new weapons and military equipment for the Ukrainian army, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said at a meeting with the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine yesterday. The President assigned the Minister of Defense and other heads of security agencies to ensure control of the use of allocated funds.
Moreover, the President told about the plans for reforming the defense sector in 2017. According to his words, the rebuilding of a reliable air defense system, development of military aviation and artillery, ammunition production the priorities, the improvement of telecommunication systems, automated systems of intelligence, command and control.
The Head of the State also instructed to accelerate the process of army food supply reform and to complete the transition to a new food and nutritional system by 2019. The reform changes the basic food set from 60 to 360 products.
As for the results of the last year, Poroshenko noted that Ukraine’s Armed Forces received 2.5 thousand units of new, improved and repaired weapons and military equipment. Another 15 thousand units were repaired by military repair crews.
Also, over 500 trainings involving foreign partners were held in Ukraine last year.
